Concept:
Twenty-seven sculptures, one for each region of Ukraine, arranged across the floor in the geometry of the country. Each is wired to that region's civil-defence alert feed. When an alert is declared in Kharkiv Oblast, the Kharkiv machine moves and sounds.
When it lifts, it stops. Nothing is simulated, scheduled or looped.
The result is a map read by ear. Alert frequency differs sharply by region — western oblasts see fewer and shorter alerts than those near the front — so the room develops a gradient: a quiet west, a restless east, and periodically the nationwide alert in which every machine speaks at once. The room becomes a scale model of a warning network in live use.
Each unit is a small enclosure housing the electronics, with a pole raising the spinning siren element to one metre — polished brass tubes and cast aluminium connectors. There is no speaker and no recording: the sound is the brushless motor's own movement under load. Twenty-seven real motors in one room do not sum the way twenty-seven recordings would — they beat against each other.
